About our company

Ken Scar, owner of Atmopshere Custom Painting:

Taking a bow before the 20'X60' "audience" mural that anchored the 2001 production of "Enter the Guardsman" at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre.  Painted on a single piece of muslin.

 SUPER BOWL XXXII HALFTIME SHOW

Ken (that's him in the middle) painted these huge "helmets" on muslin-covered plywood flats for the 1998 Super Bowl.  The mighty Denver Broncos  won their first world championship in this game and to this day Ken insists his contribution greatly aided them in their victory.

Interactive mural for Kodi Rafting in Buena Vista.  The faces are all cut out and hinged so clients can put their own faces on the bodies and take souvenir pictures.

"Pentecost" world premier production.  One of four replicas of Giotto's "Lamentation" fresco.

Ken Scar

Ken Scar, owner and sole proprietor of Atmosphere Custom Painting, recently returned to Colorado after spending over a decade working in California as a master scenic artist in theater, television and film.  Ken was lead scenic artist at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego for eight years, where he painted the scenery for dozens of world premier productions, including one of Arthur Millers' last plays, "Resurrection Blues", and seven original Broadway productions including "The Full Monty" and the current "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels".  From 2004 to 2006 Ken was the master scenic artist for two national TV shows, "Point Pleasant" for 20th Century Fox and "Veronica Mars" for Warner Brothers.  His skills as a painter were also sought out by several of California's largest corporate theater houses including Image Events and Lexington Productions, where he was the lead artist in charge of crews of up to 20 craftsmen for clients including Microsoft, Yahoo, Qualcomm, Disney, Sea World, the NFL and many others.  In 2006 ken was hired as a lead artist for the $57 million restoration of the historic U. S. Grant Hotel in downtown San Diego, and in 2007 his new company won the bid to do major faux finish restoration work in the  historic Wheeler Opera House in Aspen, Colorado.
